From a bold vision to a thriving institution, TIBST has grown through dedication and purpose.

2015

The Vision is Born

A group of distinguished biomedical scientists and educators conceptualise a new kind of institution dedicated to advancing biomedical research and postgraduate training in West Africa.

2017

Official Founding

Thrivus Institute of Biomedical Sciences & Technology is officially incorporated and receives initial accreditation to operate as a postgraduate institution in Ghana.

2018

First Cohort Enrolled

TIBST welcomes its inaugural cohort of MPhil students in Gene Therapy, marking the beginning of a new chapter in biomedical education in the region.

2020

Research Units Established

The Gene Therapy Research Unit and the Reproductive Biology Research Unit are formally established, attracting international collaborations and funding.

2022

PhD Programme Launched

TIBST launches its PhD programme in Gene Therapy, further cementing its reputation as a leader in advanced biomedical research training.

2024

Campus Expansion

A new state-of-the-art laboratory complex and library are inaugurated at the Lashibi campus, expanding capacity for research and learning.

2026

Looking Ahead

TIBST continues to expand its programme offerings and international partnerships, with a growing community of researchers and alumni making an impact worldwide.
